Comments about Product: I have used this project with all ages many times. Cutout designs can be made with safety scissors, so that preschoolers can do it. Kids are always pleased with their creations. Older ones need only a demo, but younger ones require some help getting started rolling candles. It's wonderful for family time.
Comments about Product: I bought this kit to use with my kids (ages 5,8,10) to make Christmas gifts for their teachers. I took the advice of others and quickly warmed up each sheet with a hair dryer just before rolling. Even the 5-year-old could roll a candle successfully. The candles looked great, and the kids were proud of themselves. We cut some contrasting strips and made candy-cane stripes on some candles. So cute. Hard to mess it up.
Comments about Product: At first glance this kit didn't look like much. However, my two children (ages 4 and 8) and a friend (age 10) spent almost three hours making candles. There were plenty of supplies. We even had wick left over. As an added bonus, the candles burn beautifully with very little dripping. I'll save the money I spent on the kit by not buying candles for our dinner table this winter.
My only complaint … the directions provided with the kit are a bit scant. I found I needed to cut out the pictures from the catalogue to give the kids ideas. We also used some small cookie cutters to make shapes. Once they got started though, the kids became very creative. In the end the project was considerably more rewarding than many of the pre-designed craft kits that are on the market.
