If you're a fan of Sudoku, you and your family will love this colorful alternative. Instead of using numbers to solve the puzzles, Colorku uses brightly colored wooden balls. The gameboard-crafted of solid wood-includes 81 balls in 9 different colors, 104 puzzle cards, solutions booklet, color conversion card and storage tray. There are 5 levels of difficulty. Place it on the coffee table and you're ready whenever you feel like a challenge. Also makes a decorative art piece. What is Sudoku? It is a logic-based number placement puzzle. The object of the game is to fill a 9x9 grid with a number so that every row and column have a number from 1-9 with no repeats and each 3x3 grid has a number from 1-9 with no repeats. The puzzles start with a partially completed grid and the players must fill in the rest. For ages 8 and up. Size 13-1/2"L x 13-1/2"W x 2"H

Comments about HearthSong Colorku:
Great family activity...or play alone. I don't have any trouble getting my 3rd grader or my high schooler to play this with me. Like the game,"Set" my younger one can spot patterns quicker than I can believe.
Excellent family game

The colorful wooden balls are so inviting, even my three-year-old loves to "play" this game. Colorku is, of course, a game of patience and deductive thinking. It's akin to suduko, but better because you can see the board at a glance and the wooden pieces and board make the entire tactile experience very satisfying. Still, this is a challenging game, best done, in our experience, with at least two people helping.
My entire family enjoys this all at once

I use it with the sudoku puzzles in the newspaperalso; the colors allow visual puzzle-solving!I invert the box to get the balls back into theplastic holder to begin a new puzzle. My grandchildren, ages 5,7,9,+ 11 also play and we use a time-challenge to see who can solve itfirst!

Attractive, but harder than Sudoku

I enjoy Sudoku, but even the easy ones with Colorku are difficult. If you make a mistake you have to start over and there's no easy way to keep track of alternatives for a particular space. Still, it looks and feels good, and I can imagine kids just fooling around with the colors. I'm not sorry I got it, but I wouldn't buy another.
