As noted in other reviews, the base is plastic. In our case, it easily fractured. However, I called Hearthsong and the salesperson arranged for a replacement base at no charge. That was very nice and also unexpected.

Maps are of good quality. However, I was very disappointed to find that the stand and support pieces were plastic. This product will not stand up to daily use by children which is the reason that I bought it in the first place.

A beautiful globe with the option to light up. Used it to teach my daughter about the location of different countries during the olympics. Also, works well for a night light.

Too good to be true!

My grandson loved his globe, but as soon as he began using it, the plastic support immediately snapped and we are at a loss how to repair it. We loved the way the earth is shown on the globe.
