Comments about HearthSong Sit-On Pinto Horse:

I think I come at this review from a unique perspective. 'Santa' brought this horse and the palomino horse (both bought at the same time) for my 3 and 6 year-old daughters. To compare them... well, I guess they're both 4 legged horse-shaped stuffed animals. That's about where the comparisons end. This horse doesn't hold a candle to the palomino. This has cheap thin "fur" fabric, a scary/creepy face, no nostrils, weirdly positioned bridle, cheap looking saddle, and a hole in the hoof after about 2 hours of normal play. If you are considering this because of the height, like I did, just get the palomino instead. My just-turned 6 year old is the size of a normal 7 year old or even small 8 year old and she does ok with the palomino. It took her a little longer but she finally noticed all the nicer things about her sister's palomino vs. this, her, horse. The palomino has thicker fur, a nice face with sewn in nostrils (minor details do matter), a normal bridle, nice rivet details, and sturdy metal stirrups. The part that she couldn't compare because she didn't see was that straight out of the box the palomino was noticeably nicer due to the placement of the structural legs (I assume wooden) in the padded hooves. I had to mess with this horse by shoving the structural leg deeper into the stuffing so that the hooves wouldn't look like they were being twisted/bent/broken off. Didn't matter. Whether because it was poorly stuffed or poorly sewn this horse had still had a hole in the hoof after 2 hours of play. It was very easy to repair but while repairing I got a good look at the terrible sewing job that it came with. I'm sure I'll have more repairs to make.

My daughter, however, likes it mostly because it's hers. It looks a bit like a horse she had the opportunity to take a ride on last summer and (because they both each have one)she can "ride" along by her sister i.e. no one is left out. BTW, it is kind of cool that these things can slide along on a hardwood floor (just beware of the possible torn stitching issue).

There's nothing stand-out from a parent's perspective about this horse. If I'd had the time, I'd have sent this back and bought another palomino. Since, "Santa" brought it - it can't go back (I just can't come up with a decent explanation for it) so I'll just have to repair what I can as needed and maybe even gussy it up/bedazzle the bridle and/or saddle a little. Considering the price, however, none of that should be necessary.

Bottom line, save your money or buy the palomino. This one is junk.

Comments about HearthSong Sit-On Pinto Horse:

I purchased this horse as a Christmas gift to finish off a cowboy theme. I was very impressed with the quick delivery and with the quality of the product. It is sturdy and durable, enough to withstand a hard ride by it's new 3 year old owner. Definitely worth the price I paid.

Comments about HearthSong Sit-On Pinto Horse:

I bought this horse for my 18-month-old niece who loves everything horses. It made quite an impression at Christmas because it was so big and beautiful. She was a little frightened by it at first, but after a week or so she loved it and wants to ride it all the time. I'm so glad I bought it!

The stitching is coming apart on the top back end of the horse. Was a Christmas gift and it started to come apart at the end of Jan with only minor play.
