This little guy has a very cute voice! I was a little disappointed though, to find out that the recorded messages are not saved.... which was my intention to give as a gift to my daughter who loves and owns hamsters and is expecting her first baby. Very entertaining and children will love it. He even can record a really cute sneeze!

This was almost immediately my granddaughter's favorite gift. However, it arrived with one of the batteries corroded. We were able to clean the compartment and the contacts, replace the batteries, and all was well. She loves her hamster, and happily has long conversations with it. We appreciate that it does shut off by itself!

This was a gift to our 8 year old granddaughter for Christmas. She loved it! We (grandparents & parents) never laughed so hard when it repeated everything we said. In fact, her parents want one for themselves!

My son is 3 years old & he absolutely loves his Chatimal! He laughs so hard every time the hamster repeats after him! The toy is cute & a lot of fun and requires no assembly, etc... It came with fresh batteries & ready to play! He is like a new friend!

I love these hamsters! The cute little hamster voice cracks me. My husband said I should have bought one for myself(lol). I purchased 2 of these for my 3 yr old twin nephews. They love animals so I'm hoping this will be perfect. I can't wait to see their reaction when they open them. The only problem wss that the included batteries were not alkaline. I didn't think they even make regular batteries any more. I replaced them, wrapped the gifts & now they're ready to go!

Had a hard time getting the Chatimal to work with the green batteries provided - Glad we had fresh batteries at hand, or it would have been a very disappointing birthday gift! Seems the instructions on getting the Chatimal to record were vague, as well.

I got this for my 6 year old granddaughter who is quite quiet. It really opened her up and was a big hit when the grandkids opened their Christmas gifts. I found the instructions a bit hard to follow at first, but the kids seemed to catch on. I don't know how well it held up, or how long the batteries lasted as we were not around after Christmas day. Lots of fun.

Every time they play with this, my 5yo and 3yo cannot stop laughing. My 3yo took it to preschool for sharing time and the teacher said they all had a ball with it. It's an unusual toy that not many people have, so I like the novelty of it. I would definitely recommend it, but be ready for giggles!

no assembly needed, easy for kids, fun for adults. i'll talk to the chatimal when the kids are trying to ignore me so the little critter can instruct them "time to eat" or "brush your teeth", etc. It always makes them laugh!

[...] HearthSong was very prompt.Bought as a gift for 5 year old grand-daughter who loves hamsters. She also loves entertaining so this was a perfect combination. Looks, size and variable voice responses were just right for us. She is having lots of fun with it. If the product stands up well I will rate it a 5 - just don't know yet , it's only a few days.

After I got a second one of these that didn't work, I got curious. I press the paw, say something, then the little guy moves his mouth for half a second and tries to talk, but nothing came out. I thought the batteries might be too run down to move the mouth and power the speaker. After replacing them it works fine. Some Einstein is saving the company 12 cents by putting non-alkaline batteries in the toy and hoping they last for years. Makes me wonder about the durability as well... Also, the instructions aren't clear. You squeeze the paw once, say something, wait for it to repeat it, then you talk, then he repeats, etc. You don't have to keep squeezing the paw. Once you get it running it's fun.
