This classic wooden toy was first introduced in 1948 - and has been a children's favorite ever since. Selected by Parents Magazine as a Best Toy, the set's 9 large beads are a perfect fit for wee fingers and a great inspiration for inventing entertaining games (that also develop manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination). Painted bright, nontoxic colors, the beads offer toddlers many enjoyable hours of stringing and stacking. Made in the USA. In 1789, Cornelius Holgate established a woodworking shop outside Philadelphia. His first products were hearth brushes and feather duster handles. In 1929, the Holgate Company became a pioneer in researching and developing educational toys for children. Norman Rockwell's brother, Jarvis, served as chief toy designer through the mid 1960s, and when Mr. (Fred) Rogers was looking for a company to create his Neighborhood Trolley, he turned to Holgate. Holgate uses the finest American hardwoods to make their toys - each is carefully cut, sanded, and finished to exceed all toy safety standards set forth by the Consumer Product Safety Commission in the US.

Comments about HearthSong Jumbo Lacing Beads:
Great toy! So excited to find lacing beads for little ones. Most others are for ages 3+. These are a nice size for toddler hands, though my almost 2 year old likes to put her fingers into holes - haven't gotten stuck yet! She does need help holding durable string as she puts the beads on. We are enjoying them!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great Toy for Toddlers

Bought two of these for the 2 year old children of friends. The description says 2+ but the package says 18 months and up but I'd say the age appropriateness of the toy is better suited for two year olds. Large, wooden beads and a chunky string makes this the best starter set of beads for small hands. Made in the U.S.A and a wonderful educational toy to encourage fine motor skills and focus in your little child.
