I put the door and windows outside on one of our large trees and designated the area enchanted for the grandchildren. We all love it! I read the previous reviews about the light but am careful to keep it out of the rain and it works fine.

I purchased this to become part of my daughter's fairy garden designed room. She opened it on Christmas morning. The instructions were to open it and replace the batteries. Why the original batteries wouldn't work at all is kind of beyond me, but not only did the original batteries not work, it is impossible to open the battery case. We complained and Hearthsong sent us another one. We had the same issue. You cannot open the battery area at all. I tried prying it open with a flat head screwdriver and the plastic was going to crack or bend before it would open. This is just a complete waste of money and manufacturing. This is not functional at all. If you want it just to be decoration and not light up, then it is ok.

Put this on a tree in my front yard and made it a sweet little home for the new Gnomes in my yard. Going to be fun telling tales to my Grandson, Wyatt about that little Gnome. Memories are ready to be made!

It looked beautiful for the first week, then the batteries died. I assumed the batteries that came with it were just old, but the new ones lasted around 2 days. Now I'm lucky if they last the night. Too bad, as the lamp was what made the set special and fun. Wish you could get this fixed.

The light is very cute while it lasts. The included batteries lasted a day, but I thought they were just old. New batteries lasted two days. Not sure why the lantern is still sold as part of the set. Will seek a refund.

The fairy house looks great in my garden but the fairy light does not work. I have even replaced the battery and it worked for one night. I was very disappointed.

As others have noted, the light stops working as soon as it gets rained on. The "fix" of a clear sticker to cover the opening does not work. That's too bad, because it was cute while it worked and, of course, I paid more for this set over others because of that addition.

The Fairy Village is much more interesting than the doors and windows. The illuminating lantern, which was a selling point for me, is junk and should be removed from catalog. It arrived glued shut, with no operable battery door to enable the insertion of battery to light the lantern. The directions were also terrible. I returned it and faced a disappointed birthday girl.

Neighborhood children are fascinated by it. The younger ones believe someone really lives behind the door. Great for imagination and fantasy play. Haven't hung 'light' yet due to negative comments so can't advise if water issue has been fixed.

The door is super cute and starts up a lot of conversations. The light was cute until it rained and it filled with water. (It no longer works.)

My four year old granddaughter is mesmerized by the fact that the fairies live behind the door and that they are sleeping when the lantern light is on. The only problem is that the lantern gets full of water when it rains.

I purchased the Elfin Door and Windows kit to decorate my gardens with. Little did I know the hours of fun and fantasy it would bring my children! They play out in the garden all day and imagine fairies coming in and out of the door and living in the tree we hung them on! It was well worth the price to see their delight.

The door and windows are adorable. The problem is
that the latern gets full of water when it rains
and then the solar light doesn't work. Before
it rained the solar light did work and I received
SO MANY compliments. Now the solar light doesn't
work at all but it still looks cute.

My kids have hours of fun with imagining who may live on the other side, both indoors and out. It creats imaginary Alice in Wonderland worlds, talking mice, fairies, a parallel universe - you name it! Watching them play, or reading the stories they write about our door is fantastic! I could see it as a fun addition to a classroom for the wirting prompts alone!
