I gave these to my girls 5, 7 for Easter and I've already had to glue 4 of the fairies back together. They do love them, they are beautiful to look at but if you drop one it will probably break. If you plan on having your kids actively play with them best to look for plastic fairies.

My daughter was so enchanted with these when she opened them at Christmas. Unfortunately, from the beginning we realized they were not very durable as one house was broken when we opened the box. We are still waiting for a replacement.

My daughter also received 2 sets of fairies, but we have learned to be extremely careful with them after 3 of the fairies broke within 2 days. My daughter is very gentle with them and each broken fairy was the result of an accident; all 3 fell a short distance and landed on our wood floor. The feet broke off and one wing tip broke.

I think her grandmother is most disappointed as she had expected my daughter to be able to pretend and actually play with them. These may do better outside, but that is not an option in the middle of winter in New England.

My daughter still loves them, but I am disappointed in the lack of durability and the misrepresented images showing kids playing with them.

Got the mushroom house and 5 fairies to decorate my daughter's 7th birthday cake, which she absolutely loved! She played with them and everything was great until her little sister wanted to play too. When she dropped the mushroom house, the top broke off. I glued it back on, but it seems like every day I am glueing on pieces of fairy wings, legs, etc. and she really hasn't been THAT rough with them. I finally put it away in a secret spot for my 7 yr old to play with privately.

My 10 year old and I have been considering a fariy garden for a couple years, but had found many of the resin homes on the market to be cost prohibitive. We were delighted with these. You get a whole village. We are using these as a true fairy garden situated out doors and they seem to be very durable. The fairies are breakable but certainly not more so than the Cicely Barker Faries which we need to replace a portion of every year. My suggestion if you have little kits is either get them some polly pockets or prepare yourself to replace from time to time.

I bought this set two years ago. It is beautifully detailed. We set is up on one side of a large tree in our yard. It was an adorable fairy village. I noticed some fading after year one and this is year two and it is very faded. I have just finished repainting the mushroom house. Will also have to repaint the other four. I am going to put a couple of coats of polyuretahne or clear sealant on them and hopefully that will help with the fading. We also bought the little fairies and while my granddaughters were sleeping I would go outside and set them in the garden. They would be so excited when they found them in the morning. All in all this has been a very fun project for me and the girls love it.

When the acorn and pine cone houses arrived I was extremely disappointed that the doors do not open and close. I do not think a child will be interested in a house that they cannot put their fairy inside. I believe that would feel very frustrating so I will return both items. I think the products are beautiful but see them as merely ornamental.

this is a product we purchased for the use of our grandchildren (currently 2 boys and 3 girls, 10 and under for use on an small island on Rainy Lake, right over the border into Canada from Minnesota, north of the Boundary Waters area. We put all of the Fairy Village items and the fountain up when the children and friends are around, outside, in a somewhat protected area, and it has given hours of enjoyment. My only complaint is with the fairies themselves. They are fun and pretty, but seem to break. We were very excited because there we both boy and girl fairies, but they break easily. We want to add to the fairy village as the years go by, but we want stronger fairies. I don't think this was a gift - what do you think? I would recommend the village to a friend, not so sure about the fairies. Can you get us stronger fairies?

We, my wife and I, have three villages that we have been adding to and upgrading. Each is a unique village. These are still a work in progress even after six years. It is loads of creative fun. Each early summer we usually send out invitations to come and view the villages, mostly young adults with adolecent children. it sure is fun to see the expresions and reactions of both adult and child.

The set of village homes plus boy and girl fairies on special promo is an outstanding value for the quality. Beautifully detailed and charming, like the quality of European Heirloom toys. Charming and individual fairy homes. Each fairy has individual face, posture and dress, a wonderful detail. Sparks imaginative play for fairy-obsessed children. The only two drawbacks: the village homes are somewhat delicate and can chip with rough handling, and the fairies wings are quite delicate and can fall over and break. [...] The other con is that doors and windows don't open. It would be great to be able to place fairies inside.

Disappointing that the houses do not open. The painting of houses and fairies were of poor quality. The pictures in the magazine and on line are very deceiving.

I bought the village and boy and girl fairies for my 4 yr. old daughter and 7 yr. old son last year. They both love gardening and make believe and have enjoyed them, but the fairies are easy to step on and we've lost several wings and feet. Even though they're described as "decorative use," realistically small children (and their parents) are going to play with them. Today my daughter (now 5) dropped one of the houses in the driveway and burst into tears. I'll order another because the kids really do love them and play with them, but this is an expensive way to promote a belief in magic!

This village has amazing details. I just love it! The houses are a good size. I ordered the boy and girl fairies to go with it and can't wait until I can put them outside in my garden. We have the Acorn and Pinecone houses along with the fairy girls and they are beautiful. The houses are not meant to be toys though, as they have no moveable parts, ie. windows, doors. Still good for imaginative play on some level. My daughters love them!

Bought this for my daughter's 5th birthday. We were amazed at how beautiful and detailed this set is yet durable at the same time. It comes with 5 houses and 10 fairies. It was so fantastic that we realized that our 8-year-old would just die that she wasn't receiving it, so we have held back 2 houses and 4 fairies for her birthday next month! The cost savings just keep coming! I highly recommend this toy to any child (4+) that truly believes in fairies and loves imaginative play.

I ordered the entire set of 5 houses and 10 figurines as a Christmas present for my 6 and 3 year old daughters. When it first arrived, I was afraid that it would be too delicate because of how beautiful the craftsmanship was, but because they do not have any operable parts (doors, windows, etc), I have been pleasantly surprised at how durable it truly is. Right now the entire set is inside, and my girls have incorporated other little houses and princess, prince, dragons, knights, and other fairytale dolls to the mix for the most amazing imaginative play! As soon as it is warm enough, we will bring it outside and plant a little garden around it. What a great way to motivate the kids to hang out outside! My girls just love it - it is well worth the cost.
