At the heart of everything we do at HearthSong, there is a dedication to curiosity and creativity that encourages children, of all ages, to play—and, through play, to discover and learn. That's why when we learned about the Maker Movement we were simply thrilled. Here is a philosophy, and a community, that is driven by these very same beliefs—the idea that hands-on creation is the most lasting and significant form of learning, and that, because of this, the process of creation should be celebrated.
The Maker Movement is an extension of the DIY spirit, building off of the notion that the process of creation is significant for more reasons than simply the finished product. Makers celebrate the process of making, understanding that through the pitfalls and triumphs of creation, one can have a truly constructive learning experience. For children, this process is simply known as play. Through imagination and free time to play, kids continually push the limits of their understanding, discovering something new with every toppling block tower and constructed shape.
We at HearthSong are dedicated to providing toys, games, and playthings that have this core competency at heart—ones that are specifically designed to encourage the growth of understanding through creative, open-ended play. These qualities are truly intrinsic to each and every one of our products, but here in our Maker Play category you'll find what we believe are the most exemplary examples of our toys and games that inspire little hands and minds to play, make, and learn.
