This is a wonderful family time activity. My 3 year old daughter along with my husband and I love to sit together on the floor and build this beautiful colorful tree. We each build our own sections and love to see how big and colorful we can make it. Even my husband says that this is his all time favorite toy.

I purchased this for my preschool classroom because I thought it would be a perfect addition to our thematic Birds unit. This product has great visual appeal and creative possibilities, BUT the base of the "tree" broke on the first day of use! The cheap, flimsy (balsa?) wood of the base is unbelievably inappropriate as a support for any construction, by any age group. I had put the base together myself for a group of two children and not ten minutes after they CAREFULLY began to add pieces, one of the base pieces snapped completely in half. I have tried super glue, Gorilla Glue, etc, and nothing is suitable for repair. The set loses so much appeal when it cannot be made into a tree! I can't believe with all the complaints about the base of this set that HearthSong continues to sell it. The Under the Sea set seems to have similar complaints about the quality of the base. Very disappointed. Are you listening, HearthSong?

They almost had it right...

About Me Parent
It's a fun family activity that gets everyone to participate if only for a few minutes. My very active 3-year-old will actually play for short while, but the tree base is so thin. Whatever you do, don't let your children put the base together! Otherwise, the colors of the leaves, birds, and nests are vibrant and fun to look at.

About Me Educator
The tree that serves as a base is a little difficult for a young child to figure out, and mine broke theirs the first time out of the box. They still enjoy the birds though, and building shapes with it.

Creative fun for them, quiet time for me

I bought this for a preschool setting. It is a wonderful creative toy, but we had to repair the base tree often. Two children were able to share this product nicely and it encouraged them to learn to work together

My children (ages 3,7 and 9) all play with this creative toy. It is best for the 5 to 8 age range I would say.
Cute but breaks easily
from Portland, OR
This would be a great product if the tree/base didn't break on the first use. [...]. My 7 year old is very smart and knows how to play with toys without breaking them. The tree base on this is so thin it is useless. I keep trying to get my kids to play with just the leaves and birds but they are not as excited about it. They need to include about 20 of the tree parts so kids can play with it, since they break every time.
Enough toy for five kids

About Me Quality Oriented
All five of my children love playing with the Treetop Connectagons together. They rarely use them the "right" way, as they prefer to make patterns and "traps" with them. The only bad thing about them is that when the littler ones take them apart, they twist the wood and sometimes they break. We just throw that piece away and keep playing!
Can't construct a tree without base!
By Grandma Judy

The base broke in half without much pressure in setting it up (it's very flimsy wood). I tried to tape it with Gorilla tape, but tree still doesn't stand up straight. I have left it out for use by grandchildren ages 3.5, 5.5, 7, and 9 -- not much interest. Might be ok in a preschool developmental setting, but the base is terrible, making it very discouraging to use and take apart. The colors are great.
The Base Makes it More Fun

This is a fun building toy for creative play. The pieces that make up the "trunk" or base make the connectagons so much more fun to play with - the bases add so many more possibilities. Be careful, though. The base pieces do break easily.

My 6 and 3 year old liked it the day they got it. The tree top trunk doesn't stay together well and I have had pieces all over the house since.
