    Magical… but short lived

My daughter was enchanted with this when we gave it to her for Christmas last year. I just wish the joint covers that holds the poles together were better made because less than a year later it’s collapsing.

We were picking out a new bed for our 6 year old and as soon as she saw this one, she fell in love.

The bottom of the tent is pretty slick, so the mattress slips around the frame pretty easily. I used several zip ties during installation. I’m hoping this will secure the tent to the base and extend its life.

The tent frame was a bit larger than the bed frame all around, which didn’t help the slipping around issues. But again, I tried my best to secure it with zip ties.

I appreciated how long the chandelier cord was! I had a lot of slack left over which is a great problem to have. The instructions said to feed the wire through the hole in the top of the tent and rest it along the outside, but I decided to change it to the inside. I used some zip ties and fastened the wire along one of the poles, and made it so the chandelier switch will be easily accessible from where my daughter’s laying in bed.

When I was trying to place the mattress inside, I ended up snapping one of the poles right at the base. I ended up using tape to wrap around both the pole and the t-bracket and I’m really hoping that provides enough stability for it. In all fairness, I understand the poles are plastic and I probably should have waited for my husband to get home and help me fit the mattress in there but I was on a roll and didn’t want to wait. So that’s on me.

I’m not sure how long the tulle will last. It’s not really a durable material and that’s not a manufacturing issue, just the nature of the…
